Overview

Cortagen is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro) identified as the active bioregulator fraction of lung tissue extract in the Russian peptide bioregulator research program (Khavinson et al.). Like Epithalon (pineal), Thymalin (thymus), and Vilon (thymus dipeptide), Cortagen is one of a series of organ-specific bioregulators studied for their ability to normalise gene expression in aging tissues. It has been primarily studied in the context of lung tissue regeneration, age-related pulmonary function decline, and COPD-adjacent research.
