In Plain English
A tiny 3-amino acid piece of the alpha-MSH hormone that specifically calms gut inflammation. Unusually, it can be taken as a capsule because it survives digestion — making it practical for IBD and leaky gut research.
Overview
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a tripeptide derived from the C-terminus of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It retains the core anti-inflammatory activity of α-MSH without the melanogenic side effects. KPV acts locally in the gut and skin, making it popular in research for inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, colitis, and wound healing. It can be taken orally (more stable than most peptides) or used topically.
Common Formats
- Injectable (subcutaneous)
- Oral capsule
